(Zaman al-Wasl)- Syrian resistance factions thwarted regime attack on Sunday on the eastern neighborhood of Aleppo city, local sources reported.
Zaman al-Wasl reporter in Aleppo said regime and Russian warplanes renewed raids on Aleppo besieged neighborhoods after three days of halting their raids.
The reporter said the renewal of raids on eastern neighborhoods came in conjunction with field moves by regime forces and foreign militias supporting it aiming to advance and capture Syrian resistance locations.
Source in the Syrian resistance told Zaman al-Wasl that regime army and its militias attempted to advance on Saturday night in Salah al-Din neighborhood, pointing out that Syrian resistance groups thwarted the attempt.
Abu Adel, a leader in Syrian resistance group in Salah al-Din, indicated that regime mobilized huge numbers of fighters and fighters from sectarian militias in the area two days ago to infiltrate and capture points outside their control.
He added, “Syrian resistance groups observed abnormal movements for regime army and so we set up few ambushes, spread snipers and planted mines. After midnight on Saturday, regime groups moved and entered the ambushes. As a result, they incurred huge losses.”
Abu Adel stressed that regime forces did not capture any point in the neighborhood as their infiltration failed without taking the dead bodies, pointing out that at least 15 regime fighters were killed.
In the same context, Syrian resistance in Aleppo thwarted another regime attack on al-Sheikh Lutfi west east of the city and killed and injured several regime personnel during battles.
Aleppo Fateh Operation room released statement calling civilians in regime-controlled areas to be away from military headquarters and demarcation lines.
