12 ISIS terrorists killed in Aleppo

Turkish-backed ground forces and coalition airstrikes have killed 12 ISIS fighters in northern Syria, the military said Tuesday.

In a statement, the General Staff said Turkey hit 57 ISIS and one PKK/PYD target on Monday, including defensive positions and mortars, as part of Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria.

The military added seven Syrian opposition fighters were wounded during Monday's clashes.

Operation Euphrates Shield was launched in late August to clear Syria's northern border area of terrorists. It is now in its 77th day.

The operation has seen both Daesh and PKK/PYD terrorist groups targeted by the opposition Free Syrian Army plus Turkish tanks, artillery and aircraft. The PKK and its Syrian offshoot, the PYD, are both listed as terrorist groups by Turkey although the U.S. and EU only view the PKK as a terrorist organization.

Turkey's army added that since the beginning of the operation in late August, 36 mines and just over 1,460 handmade explosives had been dealt with.
