(Eqtsad)- 24 kinds of fish have been withdrawn from market after testing them and finding 20 samples containing unsafe materials, some of them unsuitable for human consumption and others contained cancerous elements due to breeding in contaminated water, while other samples were given 6 months more expiration period, assistance of the manager of internal trade and protecting consumption revealed.
The manager’s assistant confirmed that shops were confirmed to sell rotten or cancerous fish will be closed for 3 to 7 days or more according to the Minister decision, as it is considered a major violation, added to sue owners before courts.
The official has not revealed the source of fishes, local or imported, however, directing punishment to shops’ owners, indicates that traders and distributors could be out of reach by law.
