Eastern Ghouta: Jaish al-Islam, Faylaq al-Rahman exchange accusations

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Powerful Jaish al-Islam group and Faylaq al-Rahman exchanged accusatory statements regarding an incident of gun fire exchange and arrest in Saqba suburb in Eastern Ghouta.

The verbal clash comes as activists launch the “Stand with Douma” campaign to shed light on the massacres the regime forces and Russia are perpetrating on civilians in the city of Douma.

Al-Rahman Corps issued a statement on Friday, responding to accusations by Jaish al-Islam that the Corps arrested several members of Jaish al-Islam and their civilian relatives in Saqba.

Al-Rahman Corps clarified in the statement that a group of armed men opened fire on a number of residents from Saqba after they were ambushed on Wednesday. The incident led to the death of two young men and the injury of three others, two of whom are in critical condition.

Saqba police station investigated the case, gathered evidence and eye witness accounts to prove that those who committed the crime are a security detail subordinate to Jaish al-Islam. In its statement, al-Rahman Corps called on the devoted of Jaish al-Islam to distance seditious persons from their ranks and demanded Jaish al-Islam investigate with honesty its statements and deliver the killers to justice.

Jaish al-Islam responded to the statement on Saturday via Twitter describing the Corps’ statement as fraudulent claims, and mentioning the cases of beating, arrest and thuggish behavior perpetrated by members of the Corps.

The verbal clash between the two actors comes as activists launch the Stand with Douma campaign on social media websites in English and Arabic and with a hashtag (StandWithDouma#) being used in Arabic and English to draw attention to the crimes the regime and Russian forces are perpetrating against civilians in Douma especially after the recent military escalation of attacks on the city.
