Regime forces step up attack on Khan al-Shih camp, southern Damascus

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime helicopters on Monday have renewed the barrel-bomb attacks on the besieged town of Khan al-Shih, southern suburb of Damascus, using chlorine gas, Local Coordination Committees said.

The town of Khan al-Shih that contains a Palestinian refugee camp by the same name has endured to sever aerial bombing along with severe blockade since seven weeks.

The Local Coordination said the camp was hit 8 barrel bombs on Monday in a barrel toll reached 75 in 4 days.

According to civil defense, the bombing in Damascus countryside destroyed the civil defense center in Khan al-Shih and injured scores among the volunteers in the center.

The Russian warplanes targeted on Sunday al-Huda mosque in Khan al-Shih, killing two civilians and destroying parts of the mosque.

The heavy aerial bombing has been accompanied with artillery and surface-to-surface missile attack, activists said.

Action Group for Palestinians of Syria said Russia has also targeted the camp that inhabited by 12,000  people, including 3000 children, with napalm bombs

Last Friday, residents of the southern Damascus suburb of la-Qadam rallied in solidarity with Khan al-Shih, condemning the demographic change policy that has been widely adopted by the regime forces, local reporter said.
