(Zaman Al Wasl)- State-run media announced Saturday launch of “Aleppo, Capital for Syrian Cinema 2016” celebration by Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Tourism between 22 and 30 October.
State news agency, SANA, said the “celebration” is aimed to “support Aleppo city steadfastness and to restore colors to it,” indicating that the celebration will start with a show called, “Sanduq al-Dunya” followed by honoring several cinema figures who left their trace in the history of the seventh art in Syria.
Also, there will be a book fair for books released by Ministry of Culture and Cinema institution with a music concert as a tribute to the Syrian musician Fareed al-Atrash.
The launch of the cinema celebration comes in tandem with unprecedented bombing on Aleppo by regime and its allies which killed hundreds of people and destroyed neighborhoods outside regime control pushing the humanitarian condition inside the besieged city to the abyss.
