Police in rebel-held Aleppo gain respect, appreciation


(Zaman Al Wasl)- Police forces of rebel-held Aleppo province have gained appreciation after being a respected guardian to people property and public facilities despite lack of funds and security challenges.

Police of Liberated Aleppo has started working in the beginning of 2016, aiming to help the civil community by establishing infrastructure and services in most towns and villages of Aleppo countryside like connecting electricity or providing electricity by solar-energy, road working, providing drinking water and refurbishing vital buildings which were neglected, all that work was supported by the “Security and social justice organization” or Ajax.

Major Malik Abdul-Hadi, media spokesman of Liberated Aleppo police explained to Zaman al-Wasl that developmental project have started in towns by establishing committees of “Security and social justice” in most towns, where the committee consists of a representative of the local council, a coordinator of the regional programme, the head of police centre, and a representative of the civil bodies in the city.

The spokesman explains that projects are preceded with studying recent situation and challenges and obstructions in the city which can affect implementing them, then they are planned accordingly.

“After that, a tender is organized for contractors to implement projects under supervision of police forces.

The liberated Aleppo police has implemented 37 service projects like road pavement, founding electricity stations from solar-energy, providing water pumps in city suffer of water deprivation, besides establishing shelters and basements in Aleppo city or countryside.

The major explained that projects were very welcome by residents especially electricity and road work, besides facilitating the work of police. Moreover, providing drinking water improved their quality of life.

The liberated police is trying to rebuild destroyed police centers and providing them with essential equipment.

The spokesman explained that mending roads has enabled ambulance and police patrols to reach to targeted areas quicker, besides that connecting electricity reduced robbery at night.

The director of the media office in liberated Aleppo police explained that many difficulties face the police in their projects like shortage of equipment and motorcycles, besides connection means and other needed materials which are not found in Syria.
