(Zaman Al Wasl)- A well-informed source told Zaman al-Wasl that the Russian forces recently began building a large infantry base close to the T4 military airport in Homs province, source said.
The Russian engineering machines are sweeping the site where Russia will build its military base. The base will be located north east of T4 military airbase, east of the military compound city and located on the slope of a mountain opposite the airport.
It will be situated east of the area where the regime forces are distributed north of T4 airbase.
The Russians are undertaking the move as their forces require an infantry military base due to the increase in the size of the Russian infantry forces present in this area and the Russian forces’ need for an independent and autonomous military base without regime members, regardless of their rank.
The source revealed that the Russian forces present in the regime bases such as T4 are undertaking their parachuting operations and infantry operations without consulting the regime forces. The source confirmed, “None of the regime forces in T4 airbase are allowed to as ask the Russian forces any questions about the operations they undertake in that area day and night.”
The Russian move comes following great Russian interest in the steppe of Homs which is the area with the highest concentration of Russian forces, after the coastal area, due to the mineral resources in the area including phosphate, oil and gas.
The archeological wealth is another attraction as the Russian forces have stolen artifacts especially from the city of Palmyra where according to activists and residents Russian engineering forces stole many archeological artifacts after Palmyra archeological site was turned into the biggest Russian military complex after the Hmeimim airbase.
