A Bulgarian belly dancer, who expressed her
sincere empathy with the Syrian refugees, is allocating some of her income to
help them, according to Zaman Alwasl reporter.
Karina Zakhryiva, 34, mother of 4-year-old
girl, based in Bulgaria, has donated $ 750 to treat a Syrian refugee child in
Bulgaria, who is sick and need medical and diagnostic tests.
Zakhariva told Zaman Alwasl via a Skype that
she would donate some of the money she gets from belly dancing to help Syrian refugees
who have left their homes because of the war and the bloody conflicts in Syria
and live inhumane condition in their refuge.
Hundreds of Syrian refugees have applied for
asylum or humanitarian status here in Bulgaria, the poorest country in the
European Union, even more the a mounting numbers of refugees start to raise
Bulgarian government concerns, last Year, the established a cmap for more than
500 Syrian refugees in Harmanli town.
Bulgaria’s average income is $5,600. Its
unemployment rate tops 11 percent. Since the end of communism, it has
experienced significant emigration and very little immigration. And the
Bulgarian asylum system is struggling to meet international and EU guidelines
on the treatment of refugees — a fact that human-rights organizations are
trying to change.
Zakhariva expressed her respect to Syrians who have unfortunately their dreams and hopes destroyed” She added to Zaman Alwasl: “It is sad to see children without parents, and homeless, I have seen the horrors of war in their faces, therefore, I wanted to devote part of my income as a belly dancing performer to offer their needs of food, clothes and homes”
She added that she had done the same with
Lebanese refugees who came to Bulgaria after 2006 war, as well as Iraqis who
have left their country because of war in early nineties with the help of her ex-Jordanian
husband
Karina is specialist in makeup and beauty,
while belly dancing is her hobby and a profession at the same time. Her husband
Martha is a lawyer and she has a 4 years old daughter “Tamira”.
