ISIS launches major attack on regime forces near al-Shaer gas field

(Zaman Al Wasl)- ISIS fighters launched major attack on regime forces and allied National Defense militia in a gas-rich territory east of Homs province, activists said Thursday.

The hard-line group clashed with regime forces near al-Shaer and al-Muhr districts where the Syria's main strategic resource of gas is located.

ISIS has also launched attack on the key town of Huwaysis in northeastern Homs, using car bombs, al-Masdar News said.
 
Meanwhile, The regime army backed by the Russian helicopters started special operations to retake control of al-Sukri district southeast of the historic city of Palmyra in to reach Khanifis region, the Iranian Al-Alam new channel said.

The army has recaptured Sawame' al-Haboub region east of Palmyra and Arak gas field and is now only a few hundred meters away from Khanifis power plant, the pro-Assad channel said.

On Sunday, Homs Governor Talal Barazi said the regime troops and NDF are ready to strike ISIS strongholds lines in Eastern Homs to cut supply routes from Deir Ezzor to Raqqa provinces.
