(Zaman Al Wasl)- It seems that bringing volunteers to the regime's newly-formed militia, the Fifth Corps, is still stumbling.
Regime did not take a headquarter for it although more than 3 weeks have passed on the launch of the project whose members will take monthly salaries tripling those of regime army personnel.
The stumbling seemed clear through what can be described as begging which the unknown brigade leadership restored to in order to recruit volunteers. The unknown brigade leadership sends millions of text and audio messages to all users of cell phone companies in Syria without distinguishing between a senior, child, male or female in the process of appealing to them to join the corps.
The begging through the phone angered the segments of people who are not relevant to joining the corps especially seniors and females who do not meet the conditions of volunteering, according to circulation on social media websites.
“I am a senior lady, why are you sending me these messages. If they were asking for girls, I would have volunteered to rid of these messages they are sending every minute. Leave us alone. We are done. We do not have any more young men.”
Another Facebook comment says, “I feel like I am going to open the fridge in a bit to find Syriatel employee saying to me to join the fifth corps. Why do not you join us and relieve us from nagging.” These are samples of comments posted by loyalists on loyal media networks on Facebook in response to the corps leadership insisting on
people to join them.
-A bundle of bread-
In a strange state that might be an invention for which the corps leadership deserves a patent, the leadership restored to putting written ads inside bundles of bread. The step was met with a mix of irony and disapproval. Al-Qirdaha Areen al-Assad Facebook page called for the ministry of defense to cancel the idea of establishing the corps, “You are not able to form it. Leave us alone. Now you are advertising through bread. What the hell is happening.”
The regime ministry of defense has announced on October 21 the new formation which offered many inducements to attract young men including accepting state employees while still keeping their job salaries in addition to the big salary they will get from the corps. The salary is between 200-300 US dollars per soldier, officer. But all these inducements were not enough to make the remaining loyalist young men outside Assad army and its militias to volunteer in the corps.
A private source leaked to Zaman al-Wasl information to the intention of “friends” who promised to fund the corps that they will stop the project if the members number did not reach the set number and the source said it is likely they will put off the project soon.
A new failure adds to previous attempts by the regime and they failed like regime announcement of formation of Coast Shield, Mountain Brigade and Qasiyon Eagles. These projects did not see the light due to the extreme shortage of males between the ages of 18 and 45 in the ranks of the loyalists and the remaining males’ rejection to join these formations.
