(Zaman Al Wasl)- The U.S.-backed Syria Democratic Forces on Sunday took a ground from the Islamic State in the western countryside of Raqqa, the group's de facto caliphate capital, according to statement posted online.
The YPG-led forces its military campaign, so-called Euphrates Anger, had controlled the village of Jaaber al-Sharqi after heavy clashed with ISIS, killing 38 militiamen.
YPG posted a video shows an explosion of car bomb prepared by ISIS in the village of Jaaber al-Sharqi as they were advancing inside the village.
On the other hand, Amaq, the official news agency of ISIS reported killing 20 members of the Syrian branch of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) by trapping them in a mine field in the village of Jaaber Sharqi, in Western countryside of Raqqa.
Clashes between ISIS and SDF’s militias has continued for the last 5 days around the village of Jaaber Sharqi and the village of Mahmoodli, 50 km Western of Raqqa.
Sources detailed that clashes are taking place in an area no more than 10 km from the route reaching to Euphrates dam, which is the target of SDF and US-allied forces, in order to reach to the city of Tabaqa.
On December 10, SDF launched an operation against the Islamic State in order to control the Western countryside of Raqqa,which is part of the military operation “Euphrates Anger” launched November 6, against the Islamic State in the city of Raqqa.
