Aleppo's evacuation broker, offers people of Wadi Barada same fate

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Wadi Barda valley, northwest the capital, seems to have the same fate of Eastern Aleppo, as one of the godfathers participated in the Aleppo defeat agreement has openly announced his offer to repeat what happened in the war-torn city and to reach an agreement with rebels to evacuate them from a border territory with Lebanon.

Omar al-Rahmoun, was one of four signatories on Aleppo Agreement as the regime’s representative, was in rebels’ side till last August, has via his personal account sent a message to people of Wadi Barada and rebels advising them that they would not have any benefit of stubbornness and the fate of the area has been determined and it is better to them to reconciliate with the regime to save their dignity. “I am ready to interfere whenever you want”, he offers.

The heavy aerial bombing on Wadi Barada seeks new forced displacement, local activists said as regime forces aim to have a rebel-free zone around the capital.

Al-Rahmoun’s betrayal to the revolution and shifting to regime side August 2016 was a shock to his relatives and his hometown’s people, Hilfaya.

Omar al-Rahmoun was among the delegation in Hama which met Bashar al-Assad two months after the outbreak of the revolution. At the time he left the meeting satisfied.

Omar had moved among several factions and military formations including Abu al-Alameen Battalions which formed by his brother Sami, Ahrar al-Sufiye Movement, Ahrar al-Sham, and Jaish al-Thuwar, where he had been in positions of decision making, or at least knowing the plans and locations of rebels, and close to many commanders in Turkey.

November 11, al-Rahmoun twitted: “Aleppo city will return to regime soon, and talking about Aleppo epic is nonsense”, that statement came even before having any indication about the latest development in Aleppo.

However, the intelligence archive Zaman al-Wasl obtains, showing that more than arrest warrants were issued against Omar’s brother commander Sami al-Rahmoun, added to 3 arrest warrants against Omar al-Rahmoun issued by the General Intelligence, Military Intelligence, and the Intelligence Branch. Which proves Sami’s denial that his Omar was an intelligence agent before the revolution.
