Turkish medicine in liberated areas, between trust and mistrust


(Zaman AL Wasl)- Turkish medicine is widely spread in liberated areas northern of Syria, but the trust in it vary among different people, some find it ineffective, while others trust it and find it not different from Syrian medicine that some people prefer to use.

To find out about the matter, Eqtsad tried to explore people’s opinion in Turkish medicine, by meeting Abo Samer, 58, who was just discharged from Kaferzita hospital, carrying a bag of Turkish medicine, when he was asked about his opinion about the drugs he was carrying, he expressed that he did not trust Turkish medicine as it is ineffective, and he would go to pharmacy to buy Syrian medicine, as he refused to use Turkish medicine.

Adnan Sawi, 35, claimed that Turkish medicine were not able to help him in getting rid of chest infection, as Turkish drugs do not have enough amount of effective material, because of that he would go to a pharmacy sell Syrian drugs and receive an injection.

“Turkish is not well developed in medicine and treatment, while Syria is much better that it in those fields”, Sawi expressed.

Om Mohammed, 42 Syrian woman suffers of asthma and diabetes, she surprisingly was happy with the Turkish drugs and trust them, and she has not improved until she received Turkish drugs.

Eqtsad tried to know opinion of professionals who works in the field of pharmacology by meeting Ahmed al-Sabih, a pharmacist and in the last three years he dealt with Turkish medicine, he explained that all negative opinions about Turkish drugs are not correct, as production of medicine in Turkey is monitored by strict rules and procedures, and contents cannot be altered easily.

Moreover, he mentioned that people complained of treatment in Turkey, the claimed that they have not improved by treatment of Turkish doctors, and it took them long time to recover. The pharmacist explained that trend in Turkey is avoiding the use of antibiotics as much as possible to reduce the amount of resistant germs, therefore it might take patient longer time to recover and feel better, compared to the cocktail of medicines Syrian doctors used to give patients, which make them feel better in short time, but still do not heal patient of real causes.
