Latakia: doctors protest against Assad's relatives

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Syrian regime keeps acting in a way provoking its supporters in the coastal area, as two separate incidents happened, showed the amount of ignorance of the regime to its loyalists' dignity and safety.

In Latakia city, Bashar al-Assad's heartland, all staff of Tishrin University hospital, went in a strike for 4 hours in response to intimidation and insult of the relatives of  al-Assad, but they were forced to go back to work by the power of arms.

In detail, Mohammed al-Sahili, correspondent of Latakia Media Network mentioned that the story started in the Accident and Emergency department, when a relative of  al-Assad insulted a doctor and hit him in the face.

The doctor detailed that at Accident and Emergency department, he requested an x-ray image for a man claimed to be a relative of al-Assad, but when the doctor told him that he needed to go to another department to get the x-ray taken, the man became angry and started swearing to the doctor who hit him as well.

When he went to the police station in the hospital complaining against the act of that patient, the officer managing the station had not only ignored the complain, but he demanded the doctor to apologize to the rude patient.

Moreover, when he with nurses and other staff went to the director of the hospital an told him the story, he went into a state of laugh and told them: “you will be beaten a lot later”.

The hospital staff decided to stop working because they felt that no one cared about them, and went into strike for 4 hours, but the security forces interfered and forced them to go back to work under the threat of arms.

Al-Sahili mentioned that it was not the first time for that person to attend to the hospital and act in that way. Many people mentioned that one time he entered the hospital carrying an machine-gun and bombs, and the security at the hospital barrier were not able to prevent him from entering.

When the case was circulated in Latakia, regime media met the hospital director, who summarized the incident as a misunderstanding between a doctor and a patient took place with verbal argument, who was angry because of his condition and pain, therefore, he cannot be condemned.

Moreover, the director denied any strike among medical staff in the hospital or interference of security forces to force the staff to go back to work.

Another incident happened in Tartus, when General Akram Mohammed, deputy head of Tartus branch of air forces intelligence reported to some media sources that the branch managed to deactivate two car bombs last Tuesday, were targeting vital places, moreover, the two cars were loaded with explosives inside the city and they did not need to pass the security barriers.

After that declaration, the news about the two car bombs spread in the city f Tartus, which led to a state of fear among civilians, but later the governor of Tartus told media centres that news about the two car bombs was not correct and there was no evidence to General Mohammed declaration.

The two incidents show that amount of disrespect that the regime forces show in dealing with its supporters. And despite all that, regime loyalists keep blindly supporting the regime without thinking of any consequences.
