Shiite militias prepare new offensive in Aleppo despite truce

(Zaman Al Wasl)-  Syrian regime and its Iran-backed allies step up aerial bombing on the rebel-held Aleppo province despite a ceasefire deal brokered by Russia and Turkey 6 days ago, local reporter said.

The pro-regime Iranian and Iraqi militias have positioned near Khanaser town in prepare for major offensive after few weeks of eastern Aleppo collapse.

Armed opposition on Monday decided to freeze any talks about their possible participation in proposed peace talks unless the regime and its allies end what the truce violations.
 
Rebels have cited the assault on Wadi Barada as proof that the regime is not committed to the new ceasefire. The United Nations says it has received reports that the latest fighting has displaced at least 7,000 people from the area where an estimated 45,000 people live.

Russia and Iran both back Assad, but Turkey, a NATO member, has long made clear it would prefer that Bashar Assad step down. Ankara, however, has moderated its rhetoric on Assad in recent months and Lavrov said all three countries agreed the priority was to fight terrorism rather than to remove the Syrian leader.
