(Zaman Al Wasl)- A U.S. air strike on Sunday targeting a vehicle affiliated to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham at the Turkish border killed two commanders, field sources said.
The strike on the industrial district of al-Nairab killed Abu Rabei al-Souri and Abu Musab al-Jazaeri, a jihadist from Algeria.
A U.S. drone has also killed 5 people, including two children in the same area.
On Thursday, U.S. air strikes on Fateh al-Sham's training camp in Idlib province killed more than 100 militants, the Pentagon said in a statement.
"The removal of this training camp disrupts training operations and discourages hardline Islamist and Syrian opposition groups from joining or cooperating with al-Qaida on the battlefield," Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said in the statement.
Davis said the Shaykh Sulayman training camp had been operational since 2013, adding that since the start of this year more than 150 al Qaeda militants have been killed in U.S. air strikes.
A U.S.-led coalition has been carrying out air strikes and supporting local forces in Syria to oust Islamic State militants. However, there is concern that the defeat of Islamic State could open the door for al Qaeda to take territory in ungoverned parts of the country.
In relevant development, two prominent figures in Fateh al-Sham have defected on Sunday, saying the scatter inside the former al Qaeda group and deep discords stand behind their decision.
In a handwriting statement, Abu Ahmed Zakkour and Hamza Sa'da, members in al-Shura council, said the rebel groups are not taking the interests of the Syrian people in their account since most of unity calls have been failed.
The defection statement come hours before the planned Syrian peace talks being held in Kazakhstan's Astana between key rebel groups and the Syrian regime.
The formerly known as Nusra Front has been under critics by fellow rebel groups amid claims that Nusra is halting peace solutions and not taking into consideration the recent development, especially after Aleppo collapse and mounting U.S. attacks against it.
