Regime embassy in Berlin issued passports for non Syrians: official

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime’s embassy in Berlin has issued passports for non Syrians who paid a €500 bribe, senior opposition figure said.

Bassam al-Abdullah, the Ambassador of Syrian National Coalition to Germany has denied issuing any passport to anyone by the Embassy, mentioning that issuing passports is not one of the duty of the coalition’s embassy.

In regard to arresting many people holding passports issued by the National Coalition, the ambassador explained that happened because the Syrian regime has circulated the number of passports, thus these passports holders were arrested in airports.

Al-Abdullah mentioned that the European Union has turned the blind eye to passports issued by the National Coalition In the last two years, however, after pressure on the Syrian regime, it was forced to issue and renew passports to all Syrians, even opposition figures, which pushed the European union to stop dealing with National Coalition passports and arrest who hold them.

The Ambassador revealed that the regime’s representative in the Syrian consulate in Germany, Bashar al-Asaad, who has good relationship with Bashar al-Assad, has issued passports to non-Syrian people for EUR 500, and the German government has found two cases.
