ISIS takes 4 villages from US-backed Kurdish forces near Raqqa

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Asayish militia, armed wing of Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) announced on Monday formation of Raqqa Operations Office during a meeting held in Ras al-Ayn in Hasaka whereas ISIS captured 4 villages following clashes with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) north of al-Tabaqa city in Raqqa western countryside.

The militia said the formation came during a meeting between the general leadership and the members of office in Ras al-Ayn in conjunction with the third phase of Euphrates Shield which aims to circulate Raqqa and besiege it geographically to defeat ISIS militarily.

Asayish clarified in a statement that it formed the military force in Raqqa from
Arabs to run al-Raqqa city and the militia’s controlled villages. The force will work as security force similar to the model they adopted in Manbij.

This is considered a confrontation to Turkey which opposes any participation of (PYD), the Syrian branch of (PKK) classified as terrorist organization. Turkey works to stop (PYD) from gaining more power north of Syria. Turkey Minister of Foreign Affair Mevlut Cavusoglu demanded few days ago from regional countries and members in the International Coalition to send special forces to Raqqa city to recapture it from ISIS.

In the field, ISIS announced in a statement that they killed 24 (PYD) personnel and injured another 30 in an attack on Monday during which they captured villages of Suaydiye Kabira, al-Wedian, Bayoud, Turkiya, north of al-Tabaqa city in Raqqa western countryside.
