Distressing footage of boy lost his legs in airstrike sparks anger, sorrow

  (Zaman Al Wasl)- A distressing footage of ten-year-old Syrian boy lost his two legs in regime airstrikes on Idlib province has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread anger and sorrow.

The footage, released by activists on Thursday, showed the aftermath of regime air strikes on the town of
al-Hbait in Idlib province.

Abdo Taan al-Sattouf was calling his father to carry, saying, "Pick me up, daddy, pick me up", such a call was a stark reminder of how children are paying the price of the regime war on Syrian people.

The regime warplanes conducted devastating air strikes on an array of villages close to the Turkish border.

On Wednesday, al Farouq brigade, key unit in Ahrar al-Sham movement, said it had evacuated all bases in Idlib city to end the indiscriminate killing of civilians by regime and Russian warplanes in the northern city, rebel commander told Zaman al-Wasl.

Abdul Rauouf Abaid expected similar steps by other rebel faction that based in Idlib.

Al-Bait al-Idlibi, a leading civil group in Idlib, demanded all rebels to flee the city in order to avoid aerial bombing.
 
In Aleppo province, Turkish bombardment of an ISIS-held town of al-Bab has also killed 24 civilians, activists said Thursday, but Turkey's army said only "terrorists" died in the operation.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the dead in airstrikes and shelling on the town of Al-Bab in the last 24 hours included 11 children.

Syrian regime airstrikes and daily shelling have killed half million people and have displaced 12 more million from their homes since the revolution erupted in March 2011. (With agencies)
