(Zaman Al Wasl)- Well-informed sources said Ammar Saati, senior aide of Bashar al-Assad and the close friend of his brother Maher, is the founder of al-Ba'ath Brigades, key unit in the Fifth legion, paramilitary group affiliated to the regime army.
Alwyat al-Ba'ath militia was formed in Homs city by universities students who are loyal to al-Assad and mostly from his Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam.
Saati was appointed as head of National Student Union since 2004 till now, and was appointed in the National Leadership in 2013. He got married to Lona al-Shibl, the media adviser of al-Assad.
Sources in Al-Baath University told Zaman al-Wasl that the branch of Students' Union is supervising the formation of al-Baath Brigade in the central regions of Syria, where the headquarter is based in Hama city and has many battalions following it.
Sources reported that the name of the leader of al-Baath Brigade is Basim Sudan.
The leadership of al-Baath Battalions’ in Homs has announce opening the admission of university students’ volunteers in al-Baath Brigade as fighting faction of the Fifth Legion, where the contract would last 18 months, and the comrade would be exempted from mandatory military service, added to the salary of $200 and more that a comrade would get paid according to qualification.
The students union declared that end of February would be the last day for admission application to al-Baath Brigade, affiliate to the Fifth legion, which is supported and funded by Russia.
A university student of al-Baath University reported to Zaman al-Wasl that Basim Sudan, the leader of al-Baath Brigade has promised them not to sent them to front lines, as their duties would be to stay in areas after controlling them by regime, and they would be protected by Russian airstrikes.
