Rebels command appoints Colonel Hamidi as new Aleppo revolutionary council head

The revolutionary military council in Aleppo, has chosen the colonel Abdul Salam Hamidi as an interim head for the council in Aleppo, after Abdul Jabbar al-Qaidi resignation.

Oaidi announced his resignation on Sunday as a protest against letting down the Syrian people by the international community and the western-backed opposition.

He accused them of trading in the Syrians’ fate as well as contributing in their bloodshed. Loai Miqdad, the spokesperson, and the political councillor of the supreme council of the Free Syrian Army “FSA”, said that Aqidi is a very important person in the armed opposition in Syria, and they wish he would have not had resigned, but they respect his decision. In his statement to Anadol newspaper, Miqdad confirmed that despite leaving the leadership, Aqidi would not give up fighting as he would be among rebels everywhere in Syria until the victory of Syrian people.

Oaidi who joined the Free Syrian Army after defecting from the Syrian army in early 2012, appeared in footage surfaced on the Internet addressing the Syrian opposition by saying ''stay in your hotels.''

Oaidi explained that some reason behind his resignation, was capturing and the falling of Safeira and Azyziyah, the strategic towns which lie on a road that is used to send in medicine and supplies to government-controlled areas of Aleppo.

The conflict in Syria, now more than 2-1/2-years old, has long been in stalemate but Assad's forces have been making slow advances in the centre of the country and near the capital since they captured a strategic border town near Lebanon with the help of the Lebanese Shi'ite militant group Hezbollah.
