(Eqtsad)- regime allied militias had looted electricity cables in neighborhoods of the Western part of Aleppo, besides looting electricity generators of the Eastern part.
Mahmood Abo al-Nour from the regime-loyal neighborhood of al-Zahra told Eqtsad that thugs “Shabiha” have looted electricity generator of the neighbourhood and stool bulbs of street columns.
Abo al-Nour mentioned that the government electricity had become a dream and something from history and people rely on Ambers generators that are controlled by the regime’s popular committees.
Regime’s media reported on the 17th of this month that the regime’s Minister of Electricity had announced 25 electricity generators collections had become out of service due to destructive acts in different areas of Syria.
Looting of electricity products and equipment had affected many areas in Western Aleppo’s neighborhoods of New Aleppo, Al-Basil, Jamiyet Majlish al-Shaab, Jamiyaet al-Zahra and other neighborhoods.
Local sources detailed that equipment and cables looted from the electricity generators and governmental building are transported to Tartus and Latakia to recycle them and sell them again.
Official source accused security and military bodies of depriving the city of Aleppo of its infrastructure by turning the blind eye to acts of thugs “Shabiha” when they loot official buildings.
The source stressed that who looted houses a few months ago, is looting official buildings and electricity equipment today without any punishment.
Dr. Hassan Hazori, a lecturer in the Faculty of Economy in Aleppo University wrote on his official facebook page: “The situation in Aleppo is going from bad to worse, the level of economic, personal and social security in dramatically decreasing amid the increase in the level of looting, robbing that target the official building including electricity equipment”.
He condemned the attitude of officials in the city as they turn blind eye to all what has been happening and do nothing to stop it. It is estimated that cost of the damages affected the electricity industry in Syria since mid-2011, the beginning of the Syrian revolution has reached to 800 billion Syrian pounds according to the Ministry of Electricity figures.
