Hama airport turned Iran's main cargo base in Syria: source

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Hama military airport in central Syria has turned into Iran's main cargo base where weapons and floods of Shiite militants have been pouring into the war-torn county in support of the Syrian regime and the Islamic Republic's agenda.

Tens of the Iranians cargo planes have landed in Hama airport since mid of January, well-informed source said.

The key ally of Bashar al-Assad has transferred at least 18000 afghan fighters to Syria since the revolution erupted in March 2011. Also, thousands of Iran's Revolutionary Guard corps and even military students were also moved to Syria to practice a real warfare.

Tehran seeks to deploy new troops in Syria to protect its cake share, analysts say.

Turkey and Russia turned Syria's key patrons, such a rapprochement sparks Iran's concerns over its regional strategy.
