In the following, we will present a brief glimpse of some of the publications that have included Zaman al-Wasl in their references.
Lilli Gruber, an Italian politician and journalist, published a book entitled ‘Prigionieri Dell’Islam,’ in which she mentions how Zaman al-Wasl is the leading publication when it comes to publishing documents concerning the Islamic State. She draws on reports Zaman al-Wasl published at the start of 2016 concerning Islamic State Jihadist fighters.
In 2017, the American-Lebanese researcher Fawaz Gerges published, ‘The History of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant,’ which focuses on the birth and formation of the Islamic State. Edwards published Caravan of Martyrs which also drew on Zaman al-Wasl’s articles on the Islamic State recruits.
The famous Syria specialist Charles R. Lister published a book entitled, ‘The Syrian Jihad: Al-Qaeda, the Islamic State and the Evolution of an Insurgency,’ in 2016. In the book, he focused on al-Qaeda and the establishment of the Islamic State in Syria.
Also from Oxford University Press, the Oxford Handbook of the Responsibility to Protect was published in 2016. The specialist book examines the principle of humanitarian protection, and the degrees to which intervention to protect humanity aligns with or opposes state laws, state sovereignty, and international conventions. The book includes a reference to the Zaman al-Wasl article, ‘Humanitarian Intervention in Syria and the Principle of Responsibility to Protect Civilians’ published in 2013.
The journalists Michael Weiss and Hassan Hassan published a book entitled, ‘ISIS: Inside the Army of Terror’ in 2016. In the book, the authors relied on articles and data published by Zaman al-Wasl as part of their discussion of the inner workings of the Islamic State forces.
In 2016, Zaman al-Wasl provided the World Bank with data which was included in a study the World Bank published entitled, ‘Social and Economic Integration to Prevent Extremism’.
In 2015, several books were published which included Zaman al-Wasl within their sources including William McCants’ ‘The ISIS Apocalypse,’ Ira William Zartman’s ‘Arab Spring,’ Michael Kerr and Craig Larkin’s ‘The Alawis of Syria,’ among others.
