(Zaman Al Wasl)- Two moderate rebel groups took four hilltops from the Islamic State in the eastern Qalamoun region in the Syrian desert, rebel commander said Thursday.
Younes Salama, press officer of Jaish Asoud al-Sharqiya, said his rebel group backed by Ahmed al-Abdo forces had captured four hilltops in Batra mountains.
Two rebel fighters have been killed in the counterattack that left dozens of ISIS fighters killed and wounded, Salama added.
Eastern Qalamoun, 40 miles (60 km) east of Damascus, is a mountainous area links between Eastern Ghouta suburbs, Sweida province and ancient Palmyra city.
