Wasl)- Syrian moderate rebels pressed advances in the Syrian desert,
taking ground from the Islamic State near the Iraqi border, press
officer said Tuesday.
Jaish Asoud al-Sharqiya, or the Army of East Lions, mostly tribesmen, has captured Bir Mdad as clashes still underway near Makhoul area, Younes al-Salameh said.
Asoud al-Shariqiya and Liwa' Shuhada' al-Qaryatian have expelled ISIS from Bir al-Afaei hilltops in the eastern Qalamoun, al-Salameh added.
This week, rebels have taken the ISIS checkpoints in Sabe' Biar, Makhoul, Zaza, Sais, Sad al-Rysha and hilltops in Batra mountain near the Jordanian border.
