Russia’s cluster bombs kill at least 18 people in Idlib province

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 21 civilians were killed Saturday when Russian jets struck the northern Idlib province with international forbidden bombs, local reporter said.

At least 18 people lost their lives in cluster bombs attack the town of Awarm al-Joz, as well three more people were killed in Russian airstrikes on Khan Sheikhoun town that was hit by Sarin gas last Tuesday where 103 people suffocated to death.

In the western countryside of Idlib, Russia’s jets have also hit towns of Maerherma and Basamis with Phosphorous bombs.

Al-Lataminah town in the northern countryside of Hama was hit by Napalm bombs overnight, causing huge fire, local activists said Saturday.

Idlib is one of the most important strongholds of rebels, including jihadist factions, who seek to overthrow Bashar al-Assad, whose air force, along with that of his ally Russia, has been heavily bombarding insurgents there.

The population of Idlib has been swelled by refugees including many of those who have left rebel-held enclaves elsewhere in the country after the army and its allies forced them to surrender.

The peaceful demonstrations that ended up with deadly war carried out by the Syrian regime and key regional players has killed at least 465,000 people, including 150,000 children and has displaced over 12 million people.
