U.S.-led airstrikes kill 11 people from same family in Raqqa

 (Zaman Al Wasl)- U.S.-led airstrikes killed 11 people from the same family were trying to flee the heavy fighting between Kurdish militia and the Islamic State west of Raqqa city, local monitoring group said Monday.

Raqqa Is being Slaughtered Silently said 7 children, brothers and cousins, were among the casualties of the U.S. strike. Their car was trying to drive out of Tabqa town.

Thirty more vehicles loaded with displaced people were under bombing of the Syrian Democratic Forces near Tabqa.

 The Syrian Observatory for human Rights said SDF had entered Tabqa on Monday .

The SDF fighters have set their sights on Tabqa and the adjacent dam as part of their broader offensive for the city of Raqqa. Supported by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes and special forces advisers, the SDF surrounded Tabqa in early April.

The U.S.-allied group also took new ground from ISIS northwest of Tabqa, cutting a road links between Raqqa and Tel Abyad.

The SDF, an alliance made up of Syrian Kurdish and Arab fighting groups, said 30 fighters from its group were killed by ISIS whiles they killed 76 militants in the recent few days. 8 ISIS fighters were also taken captive by SDF, said in statement.

The SDF launched the fourth phase of their offensive last week.

The multi-phased campaign by SDF was launched in November and aims ultimately to drive the jihadists from Raqqa, their de facto Syrian capital.

On Sunday, ISIS fighters attacked bastions of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the villages of Ayed al-Kabir, Jlaib Aby Jaber and Ajeel near the military airport of Tabqa, taking advantage of a sand storm sweeping the northeastern province of Raqqa..

Meanwhile, thousands of civilians in ISIS-held areas in eastern Raqqa province have been under severe siege as the daily clashes between the radical group and U.S-allied forces mount.

Muhab Nasser, said thousands of people are stuck in the town of Tabqa. They are trapped within an area of 20 km2, having no way to escape the SDF bombing and the U.S.-led coalition airstrikes that killed hundreds of people in the last months, he added.

No water or power supply is available since 28 days amid lack in medical equipment and basic food staples.
