(Eqtsad)- Shiite influence has increased in Dommar, western district of Damascus, where many Shiite families have been brought to the neighbourhood, added to buying properties, houses, shops and lands of the neighbourhood to Shiite at high prices.
Ows al-Omawi, manger of the media office of the the local council of the neighbourhood of Dommar said that 25 Shiite or newly became Shiite families from Deir Ezzor or families of Lebanese Hezbollah party have resided in the neighbourhood for months, added buying lands and properties and shops at high prices, which is more serious issue.
Selling houses and properties to Shiite take place by brokers, and significantly high prices are offered to owners to encourage them to sell their house. For example, a house for 50 million Syrian pound, is given a price for 100 million Syrian pound to seduce owner to sell, especially in recent difficult situation in the country.
Al-Omawi revealed that almost 20 houses and 15 shops and 100 acres of land were sold to Shiite buyers, which is considered a real Shiite extension and demographic change.
Dommar neighbourhood is 7 km away from Damascus city centre, located at the Western side of Qasioun mountain. Many security and military bases including the Republican Guards and al-Shaab Palace, added to the fourth Troupe which is at Moadamiya mountain, near Dommar.
The Syrian regime controls the neighbourhood of Dommar almost completely after participating with the revolution in the beginning of the Syrian revolution, but extensive arrest campaign resulted in arresting 1200 people, many of them died under torture, led to suppressing the revolution.
