Names of 100 Pilots who conducted 60,000 air Strikes from Dumayr Air Base


(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian air force has used most of its military and even civil airports to bomb the areas that revolted against the regime.

The pilots in the southern airbases in the rural areas of Damascus and Sweida participated in the crimes against the Syrian people alongside their colleagues from other areas.

The most important airports in the central and southern regions are al-Dumayr, al-Sine and al-Nasiriyah in Damascus countryside, and Khalkhalel in Sweida countryside. These airbases are under the command of the 20th Division, whose officers along with the 22nd Division are considered the fiercest pilots and most hostile to the Syrian revolution. They carried out the majority of the military strikes against civilians in the neighborhoods and areas that revolted.

Al-Dumayr, al-Nasiriyah, al-Sine and Khalkhalel airbases are all classified as first-class airports by military experts due to their capacity and capabilities. The three airbases included 106 pilots as of April 2017. The pilots include high ranking officers from Major Generals and Majors. In the document included at the end of this report, Zaman Al-Wasl publishes their names and the places of birth. 

According to statistics obtained by Zaman al-Wasl, the current and former pilots of al-Dumayr and al-Nasiriyah airbases have carried out more than 15,000 military flights, mostly in the southern region of Syria, since the regime started using airplanes against the population. They committed hundreds of massacres in the eastern and western Ghouta, and used all kinds of aerial munitions, including internationally prohibited weapons and chemical.

Al-Dumayr airbase located 30 kilometers southeast of Damascus, includes 34 pilots. The Command of the 20th Air Force Division and the 30th Brigade. The airbase includes one landing pad and the space for three air squadrons. The airport, which is considered one of the three most important airports in Syria, includes MiG 23M, Su 22 M2 and Su 22 M3 aircrafts.

Al-Nasiriyah airbase follows al-Dumayr in terms of importance as the 20th Brigade is stationed there. The airbase located about 70 kilometers northeast of Damascus and includes one landing pad that has space for two squadrons of MiG 23 M L fighter jets.

Al-Sin airbase is located 45 kilometers east of Dumayr airbase, and includes 47 pilot officers of varying ranks who are all part of the 17th Brigade. Al-Sin airport includes two airfields that can accommodate three squadrons. It is considered one of the main airports in Syria and comes third after Dumayr and al-Nasiriyah. It includes squadrons of MiG 29, Sukhoi 24 and MiG 23N.

The current and former pilots of the 17th Brigade have executed the most offensives across Syria. Statistics estimate that they carried out more than 30,000 missions during which they committed massacres against civilians in Syrian cities and villages. These pilots also executed attacks against displaced persons convoys which were fleeing from regime and Islamic State controlled areas and traveling across the desert heading to the Jordanian border. 

The 20th Division is stationed at the Khalkhalel airport located in countryside of Sweida province. The airbase includes 25 pilots of varying ranks ranging from Brigadier General to Majors. The 73rd Brigade is stationed at the airport. The airbase is classified as first class as it holds two airfields that can accommodate three squadrons of MiG 23 ML, MiG 23 BN.

These current and former pilots have carried out more than 15,000 flights on Damascus countryside and the southern region of Syria in recent years. They have committed hundreds of massacres, which have killed tens of thousands of civilians and used various conventional and internationally banned ammunition.
