ISIS kills 7 regime troops in eastern Homs

 (Zaman Al Wasl)- At least seven regime army troops were killed on Friday when ISIS struck their bastions in the eastern countryside of Homs city, pro-regime media said.

Zaman al-Wasl reporter said ISIS fighters had ambushed regime forces in al-Shumariya mountains that lie on the Syrian desert where the radical group still controls vast swaths.

Russia's jets have targted isis in eastern Homs in support of the Assad army.

The heavy clashes left 7 war reporters wounded who work for Syrian, Lebanese and iranaina media, according to Assad media.

In Hama province, Islamic State fighters launched surprise attack on regime forces and allied militias north of Salamiyya city near a highway links between Aleppo and Hama.in overnight, killing and wounding 28 troops, pro-regime news feeds said Friday.

ISIS looks to control Athariya road, a strategic adjacent, to cut supply route between the eastern countryside of Hama and Aleppo.

Salamiya-based activist told Zaman al-Wasl that the town's main hospital had received 5 slain troops and 15 wounded. 

Backed by heavy Russian and regime airstrikes, the regime army seeks to expel rebels from the Hama province and to secure the Alawite dominated territory in al-Ghab Plain, local activists say.
 
More than 465,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began in March 2011 with anti-government protests.
