(Zaman Al Wasl)- Al-Bustan Association (ABA), a pro-regime charity owned and run by Rami Makhlouf, Bashar al-Assad’s cousin and Syria's tycoon, has been listed as one of the organisations under sanction for its crimes against Syrian people.
ABA was a delivery partner of the UN and Unicef during the Syrian war in 2015, and received hundreds of thousands of US dollars, to supply water, sanitation and hygiene, education and winter clothes.
The association has used the money it received from the international humanitarian organisation to pay salaries of pro-regime Shabiha militias it runs.A defected first Assistant worked with the Association for two years talked to Zaman al-Wasl about the unprecedented violations of the Association, reached to human organs’ trafficking, which were taken from patients and victims treated n hospitals run by it like al-Noor and al-Othman hospitals in Latakia.
The witness explained that many wounded patients were killed to take their organs, especially kidneys and eyes, and that included even the regime’s soldiers and militias members, reaching to doctors and medical staff. “it is the reason behind preventing people to see the bodies of their dead relatives”.
The decision of the United State to punish al-Bustan Association is late and still minor compared to its crimes against the Syrian people.
Sanction and punishment should include the international bodies which cooperated with al-Bustan association and helped it in expanding its crimes and violations against Syrian people.
