(Zaman Al Wasl)- Unknown assailants killed a prominent rebel fighter in coastal Latakia province amid hike in targeting rebel commanders by pro-regime militias, field source said Saturday.
Mohamed Ali, commander in the Division 13, key Free Syrian Army unit, was assassinated by an armed group in rebel-held areas of Latakia.
Activists demanded more scrutiny at the rebel checkpoints to avoid such incidents targeting prominent rebel fighters.
Tracking rebel commanders, one by one, has turned a policy to take revenge from famed and well-known fighters who inflicted humiliating defeats on the regime army.
Pro-regime militias in Latakia celebrated Ali’s death, source said.
