Suicide bomber kills 4, injures 17 in Syria's Damascus

Deaths and injuries were reported on Tuesday after a suicide bomber blew himself up in central Damascus, Syrian state television said.

“A terrorist suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt blew himself up in the Jebbeh district of the Jisr al-Abyad neighborhood, causing deaths and injuries,” state television reported.

Activists reported 4 people have been killed and 17 others have been wounded.

The first suicide bombing in Damascus carried out near the National Security office,  Gen. Ali Mamlouk's headquarters and very close the Foreign Intelligence Department which headed by General Hafez Makhlouf, Bashar al-Assad's cousin.

Suicide bombings have repeatedly targeted the capital in the 33-month conflict which has pitted forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad against rebels seeking his ouster.
