Kurdish PYD abuses mount against Raqqa displaced people

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Militants of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) have attacked a group of displaced people from Tabqa after they demanded to be allowed to return to their homes in the town of al-Sweidiya.

The news comes as videos are leaked of PYD forces torturing civilians to extract information about the Islamic State locations in al-Raqqah from them.

In a video circulated on the Internet, a man from al-Sweidiya village said that commander and members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), America’s allies against the Islamic State, attacked women and men from al-Sweidiya who were demanding to be allowed to return to their homes in the village. The villagers made their demands as they have been displaced and living in the open air for most of the past five months.

The young man added that five members of the US-backed militias fired shots to disperse people and pointed out that Abu Hawaz, an SDF commander, often assaults people when they come to the headquarters demanding the SDF allow them to return to their homes.

In a related context, a video was leaked which shows men in PYD uniforms with images of the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan on their shoulders, torturing two men from al-Raqqah.

The torturers insulted the two men, beat them and kicked them to extract information about the Islamic State force locations.
