The revolutionary council in Aleppo's Salah al-Din has completed restoration of the neighborhood's mosque, which was badly
affected by shelling of the Assad forces. Many holes happened in the ceiling,
walls, sanctuary and the stand, only the outside square was the only place left
for pray.
“the mosque was a very important gathering
point for demonstration against regime, however, it became a target for
shelling and bombing after the Free Syrian Army “FSA” entered the area, which
caused a significant destruction for wide area of it” Abo Mehyo, a member of
Salah al-Din neighborhood revolutionary council said.
He added: “because the mosque is very
important, a decision was made to restore it, especially after the visit of
Jalal al-Din al-Khanji to the neighborhood. The job was completed in 6 stages”
He detailed that the most challenging
stage of the job was closing the holes in walls, because some of them were at
the target of regime;s snipers at nearby barrier. Ha thanks God that all the
job was done without any casualty.
Abo Mehyo refused to reveal the cost of
the the job according to funders request.
It worth mentioning, Salah al-din Mosque
has been an icon of the revolution in Aleppo, as many demonstration started
from it as well as Amna Mosque in Sief al-Dawla which turned to be rubble by
