Aleppo's Salah al-Din Mosque restored from rubble, prayers hold again


The revolutionary council in Aleppo's Salah al-Din has completed restoration of the neighborhood's mosque, which was badly affected by shelling of the Assad forces. Many holes happened in the ceiling, walls, sanctuary and the stand, only the outside square was the only place left for pray.

“the mosque was a very important gathering point for demonstration against regime, however, it became a target for shelling and bombing after the Free Syrian Army “FSA” entered the area, which caused a significant destruction for wide area of it” Abo Mehyo, a member of Salah al-Din neighborhood revolutionary council said.

He added: “because the mosque is very important, a decision was made to restore it, especially after the visit of Jalal al-Din al-Khanji to the neighborhood. The job was completed in 6 stages”

He detailed that the most challenging stage of the job was closing the holes in walls, because some of them were at the target of regime;s snipers at nearby barrier. Ha thanks God that all the job was done without any casualty.

Abo Mehyo refused to reveal the cost of the the job according to funders request.

It worth mentioning, Salah al-din Mosque has been an icon of the revolution in Aleppo, as many demonstration started from it as well as Amna Mosque in Sief al-Dawla which turned to be rubble by Assad shells.
