(Zaman Al Wasl TV)- To support people with special needs and those suffering from partial-paralysis and quadriplegia, caused by the al-Assad regime’s bombing and explosive barrels, a teacher and a police officer who dissented from the al-Assad regime created a system to facilitate the movement of people with a degree of paralysis using wheelchairs equipped with solar panels capable of feeding the battery and powering the wheelchairs for a full day without interruption.
Ahmed al-Juwlaq, one of the inventors, said to Zaman al-Wasl TV, that the idea came as he felt for his neighbor’s, a quadriplegia, needs and the difficulties he faces in moving around. The neighbor’s family do not have the financial means to charge his wheelchair because they cannot afford to pay for electricity.
Al-Juwlaq says he began looking for ways to solve the problem. After dozens of experiments, he found a free way to charge the battery using solar energy after installing solar power panels on top of the chair supported with a metal base and electric circuits.
The success of the experiment prompted many parents to head to the town of Kfaroma to ask al-Juwlaq and his colleague to manufacture similar devices similar for their injured relatives.
The project suffers from a lack of material support hindering the pair from purchasing the necessary equipment. This material lack prevents the pair from catering to the increase in the number of beneficiaries where they aspire to install the panels for 150 wounded in the first stage of the project.
