Protests demand Assad overthrow after Friday Prayers

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Residents of opposition-held areas have rallied after Friday Prayers, calling for the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad amid fears of a Russian-American deal to keep him in power.
 
The demonstrations have recalled the first days of Syrian revolution that erupted in March 2011 and the memorable peaceful uprising before turning into brutal war left more than half million people killed and 12 more million people displaced.
 
The rapid advances of Assad regime and deteriorating situation of moderate rebels as well the mounting power of hardline Islamist group have narrowed the hopes of a new syria without Assad’s family that has been in power since 1963.
 
Russia took advantage of the unspoken ally Donald Trump who cut the CIA arms programme of Free Syrian Army factions and who let Russia steering the Syrian war.
 
The protesters of southern Damascus suburbs also denounced a peace initiative with Israel made by political figures in southern Syria.
 
No protests reported in the northern countryside of Homs due to the suspention of Friday Prayers as regime forces keep violating a one-week-old truce, according to statement issued by Shariah Court.  
 
The main clergy body in Hola region said fears over worshipers lives make the suspension of Friday Prayers a necessity.
