12 local councils demand Tahrir al-Sham to leave Eastern Ghouta

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 12 local councils of embattled Eastern Ghouta suburbs have demanded Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) to end its presence in the eastern districts of Damascus after reaching a seacefire deal with regime last month.

The civil society and armed groups in Ghouta asked the fighters of formerly knows as Nusra Front to join moderate Free Syrian Army or to leave to Idlib province.

The Russian-brokered de-escalation agreement urged all armed parties to respect the deal, such a demand finds support of residents who suffer at least 6 years of daily bombing and sever blockade.

The evacuation policy for hardline fighters, including ISIS and al-Qaeda members, has turned regime’s first agenda to secure the capital and surrounding districts.
