Dubai
government has increased the salaries of public sector employees by up to 100%,
it announced on Tuesday.
Under a
'nature of work allowance', employees of 32 government departments will receive
salary hikes between 30-100%, depending on their current role.
Salaries
for doctors, financial controllers and auditors will be doubled provided the
increase does not exceed AED 25,000 per month.
Engineers,
legal advisors, financial planners, investment managers, Ruler’s Court
employees, internal auditors, university teachers and specialised Human
Resources and Information Technology employees will be receive a 50% increase
of up to AED10,000 per month. Night
shift employees are eligible to a 25% increase.
The
increase takes effect in December and will be paid retroactively to June 2013.
"The
allowance aims at empowering government departments to boost their capability
to attract specialised and outstanding human resources, and retain them,"
state news agency WAM said in a statement.
