Syrian refugee to sell Kidney to afford his father's treatment

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Mohammad Ali, the 36-year-old Syrian refugee has decided to sell one of his kidneys to pay his debts due to lack of financial resources imposed by his new living conditions in his tent in the Western Bekaa of Lebanon.

His decision seemed a hopeless one when he posted on social media, “ a young man from Syria is ready to donate a kidney in the Bekaa area.”

Zaman al-Wasl contacted Ali through the number he provided in the post and asked him what is the reason that would push someone to sell their kidney.

He gave a naked, frightened, defeated answer, “I want to be done with it.”

Ali who works as a builder and breadwinner for four children and two elderly parents was exposed to fraud inn his work that plunged him into a debt s that reached $ 7,000, he says.

Ali may have been threatened and pressured by his creditors. He was forced to make such a decision, but he preferred not to mention it literally due to a fear that controlled him.

Regarding the price Mohammad allocated for the sale of his kidney, he responded after a great hesitation, and his answer was not as shaky this time, but came wrapped in the mentality of that compassionate rural man, seeking a decent life and to pay his creditors. Not the mentality of greedy trader seeking profit and exploitation.

Mohammad explained that he asked for $ 10000 for his kidney and Zaman al-Wasl learned that his father has a brain tumor and the operation to remove it costs 3000$.

Mohammad did not tell his wife or his children nor any of his family that he intended to sell the kidney as he confirmed to Zaman al-Wasl and will leave them a message of salvation from the hook with the creditors and secure the cost of his father's operation to spread joys in their hearts again.

Mohammad only wishes to have a successful operation so he can provide for the surgery for his old father and secure his family. He is now ready to carry out his offer and sell his kidney for the first contact.
