Armed opposition discloses files discussed in Astana peace conference

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The delegation of the Syrian resistance factions presented to Astana 6 conference several files related to the cooperation of Bashar al-Assad regime with ISIS through its security services and facilitating some of the operations carried out by the organization in the central city of Homs.

The delegation also presented the file of the use of chemical weapons by the regime and the violations of ceasefire by Assad and his militia fighters in various areas covered by the agreement.

Chief of Staff of the Syrian Free Army Brigadier General Ahmed Beri, and head of the delegation of the factions to the conference Astana revealed in a special statement to Zaman al-Wasl some of the files delivered to the international envoy Stefan di Mistura and to the Russian delegation participating in the conference about his guarantor to the commitment of the Assad regime and its allies Russia what is agreed on.

File of Regime collaboration with ISIS

Brig. Gen. Ahmed Beri said that the delegation of factions handed over a file to Stefan di Misturathe, UN envoy to resolve the Syrian issue.

The file included, according to Beri, testimonies of some prisoners from the air intelligence service of the Assad regime including a clear and explicit recognition of the prisoners of:

1 - Bashar al-Assad regime dealing with ISIS.

2 - The implementation of the Assad regime large trade exchanges with ISIS.

3 - Orders from Assad regime leadership to withdraw from the fronts of the city of Palmyra to hand it to ISIS.

4 – Security apparatus in Assad regime facilitating executing of bombing of security branches in the city of Homs on 25/2/2017.

Beri added, "the file included a request to include confessions to the files of the counter-terrorism basket, and to direct the request to the International Commission of Inquiry and documentation of testimonies of prisoners of Air Intelligence."

Chemical weapons file
Beri added that the resistance presented an integrated file to di Mistura about Assad's chemical weapons, including a request for three items from the international envoy in addition to the file:

1 - Include the file to the basket of counter-terrorism and research the mechanism of implementation of accountability procedures and the prosecution of those involved.

2. Introduce its contents in your briefing to the Security Council with our demand for the implementation of article 21 of resolution 2218.
3. A copy to both the International Commission of Inquiry, the Chemical Weapons Non-Proliferation Commission and the mechanism for collecting evidence for action.

4 - Reference to the items in your press statements addressed to the public opinion.


Violations File


The delegation also submitted a memorandum with a file of violations to ceasefire that were documented by the Syrian regime and its supporting forces to the Russian side, which guarantees the commitment of Bashar al-Assad's regime to stop escalation and cease fire in some agreed areas as of 30/12/2016.

The file also included a demand to the Russian side to abide and compel the Assad regime to abide by the content of the ceasefire agreement, abide by its provisions and take the necessary punitive measures against the perpetrators and compensate the affected persons according to the provisions of the Ankara Agreement, Security Council Resolution 2336, the de-escalation memo, and related letters.
