For Assad army, all civilians are ISIS fighters in Deir Ezzor: footage

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Russian Federal Press released footage last week revealed showing members of the "National Defense" militia of the Assad forces dealing with residents of towns and villages which the forces entered recently in Deir Ezzor countryside with the support of Russian forces.

The footage included arrest operation of an elderly man from his home in al-Sabha village on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. The agency said its an operation in which the militia arrested ISIS employee in the village.

But the dialogue between three elements of the "National Defense" and the paranoid man shows that the operation is staged, and the detainee is one of the civilians who did not expect what the Assad regime would call "liberation" as such. The man was humiliated and called accused of being ISIS member and the militia elements accused his family of doing "obscene" things with ISIS as one of the speakers in the tape said to the man.

A fourth element from the militia intervenes in the scene to advise his colleagues not to use obscene words and the need to appear in front of the camera that they deal appropriately with the "captive", whom the tape did not show - because of the process of editing – the militia teared apart his clothes (Kalabia) and used the cloth to handcuff him and they tried to transport him on a bicycle they had stolen from the place also as they have crossed the river from al-Shamiye to al-Jazira amid clashes with ISIS elements.

During the past three weeks, regime forces backed by Russian forces advanced in the vicinity of Deir Ezzor and has taken control of dozens of towns and villages in its western and eastern suburbs.
