Syrian airstrikes kill 12 civilians, including 4 children, in Eastern Ghouta

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 12 civilians, including 4 children, have been killed in Eastern Ghouta as Syrian regime forces step up its heavy bombing on the embattled suburbs of Damascus, activists said on Friday.

Local reporter said the airstrikes have targeted towns of Douma, Misraba, Beit Sawa, Hammouriya, Saqba and Ein Tarma.

4 family members were among the casualties in Beit Sawa as the airstrikes hit people were preparing themselves to Friday prayers.

Meanwhile, dozens of wounded people need urge emergency as the medical and field hospitals suffer lack of equipment and medicine.

Syrian regime forces refuse to abide by a Russian-brokered ceasefire in the eastern suburbs of the capital real last August.

During the week, fierce clashes erupted between regime forces and rebels in the neighborhood of Jobar and Ein Tarma as regime seeks to advance in the long-besieged opposition-held pocket.

Jobar Media Office said regime forces have fired at least 20 surface-to-surface missiles on the neighborhood along with heavy artillery shelling.

For almost 6 years, the regime forces have failed to take full control of Jobar despite countless attacks.
