ISIS takes 13 villages from Tahrir al-Sham in eastern Hama

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Powerful Tahrir al-Sham alliance, in statement issued Monday, has accused the Syrian regime and the Islamic State of mutual coordination to attack its bastions in central Hama province.

The former al-Qaeda group statement followed a surprise attack by the Islamic State on its territory in the eastern countryside of Hama.

Amaq, ISIS news agency said the Islamic State has seized control of 13 villages, adding that clashes are still underway.

Tahrir al-Sham has mourned four fighters, saying the attack was plotted by the regime forces which facilitated the ISIS assault.

The statement has also accused ISIS of committing crimes against the Sunnis, major offshoot of Islam, as well as killing Mujahideen- the Jihadists- in Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and other opposition-held areas.

Tahrir al-Sham alliance on Friday launched new major attack on regime forces in Hama after Damascus declared that the central province is free of the Islamic State.

The attack took place in the pro-regime village of Abu Dali which considered as the main crossing to the rebel-held province of Idlib, which is largely controlled by Tahrir al-Sham.

On September 19, five rebel groups led by the formerly known as Nusra Front launched a large attack on regime-held areas in Hama. The biggest offensive in that area since March, and underlines the complications facing Russian-led diplomatic efforts to preserve ceasefires in western Syria.

Last Wednesday, the regime army and allied fighters drove ISIS from their last positions east of Hama on Wednesday after heavy fighting, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

ISIS was no longer present anywhere in the province for the first time in three years, , the Britain-based monitor added.
