Daraa rebels recapture two villages from regime army in Allajat Region

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian rebels have recaptured two villages were seized early Friday by the regime forces near the Jordanian border, local activists said.

The surprise attack on Allajat region along the border with Jordan come despite a two-month-old ceasefire deal that was brokered by Russia in southern Syria.

Mahmoud al-Horani, Daraa-based activist, said the regime forces seek to secure the supply route links between the capital and Daraa city.

Syrian regime officials said the ceasefire deals policy is a temporary one as the regime Army backed by Shiite militias have been pounding Eastern Ghouta, Homs, Hama and Idlib since two weeks.

In relevant development, the army's elite Fourth Armored Division has become the only military unit to control checkpoints in Daraa which used to be under the intelligence control, sources said.

The move gives Maher al-Assad's forces the upper hand in southern Syrian as well it seeks to decrease mounting complaints over corrupt intelligence members who run the checkpoints.

Also in Daraa, six rebel factions led by former al-Qaeda group have launched assault on an ISIS affiliated group in the western countryside, field sources said on Thursday.

Tahrir al-Sham alliance backed by Ahrar al-Sham and four armed groups is seeking to defeat Jaysh Khaled Ibn al-Walid group and to break the siege imposed on the village of Hait as well to take village of Jellin and its camp in the western countryside.

Khaled Ibn al-Walid group, which pledged allegiance to the Islamic State three years ago, has attacked rebels bastions several times near Yarmouk basin.

Tahrir al-Sham, in statement issued Monday, accused ISIS of committing crimes against the Sunnis, major offshoot of Islam, as well killing Mujahideen- the Jihadists- in Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and other opposition-held areas.

The statement followed a surprise attack by the Islamic State on Tahrir al-Sham's territory in the eastern countryside of Hama.

Amaq, ISIS news agency said the Islamic State has seized control of 13 villages, adding that clashes are still underway.

Tahrir al-Sham has mourned four fighters, saying the attack was plotted by the regime forces which facilitated the ISIS assault.
