(Zaman Al Wasl)- US-backed Syrian militia has seized two villages from ISIS in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, such a gain comes a day after declaring victory in Raqqa, once ISIS de-facto capital, local media unit said.

The Syrian Democratic Forces took villages of Sfiera and Shaqra, ISIS last stronghold in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, Furat Post reported.

The new push makes ISIS fighters in complete sige inside the city as the kurdish-led forces and Syrian army encircled ISIS-held neighborhoods.

The eastern province is partly controlled by ISIS, which is under pressure from several fronts in war-torn Syria.

ISIS's last major stronghold, the cities, towns and farms in the fertile strip along the Euphrates bordering Iraq are fast becoming the focus of six-year-long civil war.

Meanwhile, the fate of tens of detained civilians in ISIS prisons is still unknown after the Syrian army seized al-Mayadeen city last week.
