Iranian agenda behinds evacuations of Damascus suburbs

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Council of Damascus Governorate issued new decree to evacuate the Allawan area in Kafarsousa district, such a step enhancing the Iranian presence in the capital and endorsing forced displacement of the indigenous people due to sectarian agenda, local activists said.

The first years of the Syrian revolution witnessed fierce resistance of Allawan residents to the regime. The demonstrations formed a lever for the revolution of the Damascene neighborhoods.

The Assad regime had sought in the earlier period to evacuate the opposition areas adjacent to the capital instructed by Iran to rid of the opposition popular incubator, and emptying these areas through a series of reconciliations.

Pro-regime Syrian News website reported that the director of implementation of decree 66 Jamal Yousef said," as of the beginning of next year, work will start to prepare the second organizational area of decree 66 and we will distribute warnings to start evacuation of Allawan area. The Directorate completed verification of property for about 16 thousand lawsuits, and completed 85% of inheritance lawsuits and characterization.

The legislative Decree No. 66 issued by Assad in 2012 states that two organizational zones are to be established: the first zone is south east of Mazzeh and the second is south of Mazzeh in Kafarsouse- Basateen- Daraaya and Qadam.

Jamal Yousef says "we have studied about 6,500 alternative housing applications in the first organizational one and the results of those who got the housing will be announced by the end of this month. Unfortunately, there many incomplete applications."

According to Yousef, the regime started building the project, confirming the regime aim to change the demographics as about 90% of the infrastructure and 12 km of tunnels have been built. The first phase of the project will be completed by the beginning of the third month.

The reconciliations in Daraya and Moadamiyet al-Sham ended up in evacuating the two cities and transfer of fighters to Idlib. Following the evacuations, Iranian militias entered Daraya and held prayer in Sakina Shrine in the presence of Iraqi and Iranian religious figures.

As for Moadamiyet al-Sham, more than 70% of its inhabitants were forcibly displaced before the reconciliation agreement and the rest of its inhabitants were besieged in the old neighborhoods with restrictions on their movement leading other families to leave after reconciliations. Two sectarian neighborhoods were kept; the northern neighborhood and the neighborhood adjacent to Mazzeh Military airport which hosts families of regime soldiers and thugs.

The regime continues to change the demography of Syria in all parts of the country and continues to hand over Syrian territory to its allies in shedding Syrian blood.
