(Zambian Al Wasl)- Syrian rebels brought down an army helicopter in southwest Syria Friday, near the Israel-occupied Golan Heights, a activist group said.
Pro-regime media outlets said two Brigadier Generals and Lieutenant Colonel had been killed.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the aircraft went down in regime territory southwest of Damascus after a missile hit it. Reuters reported.
More than 119,000 pro-regime forces have been killed, including 62,000 Syrian troops, tens of thousands of loyalist militiamen, and 1,556 fighters from Hezbollah, according to a new estimate by the Observatory.
On Thursday, an air force pilot filmed being burned to death by Islamic State extremists almost three years since the savage murder of the Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh who was slaughtered on camera by ISIS who locked him in a cage before setting him alight, according to footage posted online.
Lieutenant Azzal Eid took hostage by ISIS in 2016 after shooting down his jet in the Eastern Qalamoun near the capital.
The footage sparked anger of the Syrian activists on socila media who accused the regime of betraying its officers and detainees.
